Job role:
To provide comprehensive software and hardware support, both over the telephone and face to face as required, as laid down in annual Service Level Agreements, across some 3000 PCs and 240 servers to 3000 staff in subscribing Council departments. The ability to resolve problems and queries quickly and accurately has a direct impact on the effectiveness of all staff using systems and hardware supplied by the Information Systems Division (ISD).
Essential:
Proven track record working in the IT field
Sound practical knowledge of current Windows desktop operating system(s) and Microsoft Office applications
Basic network troubleshooting skills
Uses basic planning techniques for managing emails and/or performing administrative tasks
Uses a diary/Outlook to plan in advance
Lets manager know when under time-pressure or work quality is in danger
Anticipates busy periods and prepares accordingly
Understands how the work of other team and business groups have an impact on own responsibilities and achievement
Uses networks and personal relationships beyond own work area to inform decision making
Can see links, dependencies and barriers affecting work progress
Uses formal and informal channels to influence outcomes
Essential education and experience:
Relevant Qualification within the field
