It’s an exciting time for culture and heritage in Waltham Forest, east London. With award winning cultural venues attracting global recognition, the borough has a lot to offer its residents and visitors. Identified as a priority area by the Heritage Lottery Fund, culture and heritage are high on the Council’s agenda.


We have a number of buildings/venues within our team, including the stunning Walthamstow Assembly Hall, Chingford Assembly Hall, the award winning William Morris Gallery and Vestry House Museum. We have recently taken on responsibility for the hub building in Lloyd Park, a centre with a café, community room, gallery and artists studios. We now need an enterprising member of the team to help us to manage these buildings, to idnetify and oversee maintenance and repair, toensure they are presented in excellent condition and welcoming for our vistors, hirers and guests, that we are compliant with health and safety requirements, and to maximise visitor experience and income. Our new member of the team will need a flexible approach to support the operation of these buildings according to need, which may occasionally require them to show around clients and potential clients,and work closely with FM.


You will have good organisational skills and the excellent interpersonal skills. You will work closely with colleagues in the cultural programme team to create a strong programme for the gallery and the development team to maximise income generation for the future sustainability of the hub building, liaising with local councillors and friends group. Some weekend working will be required.


Work with site managers to ensure the safety and security of buildings within Cultural and Heritage Services.
Identify maintenance and repairs and arrange works as necessary.
Supervise contractors as required at buildings managed within Cultural and Heritage Services.
Undertake work place risk assessments and work with site managers and staff teams to minimise risks.
Build effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
