Course Description
Designed for those entering the workplace for the first time, this qualification provides a basic awareness of key safety issues and the role everyone should play in keeping themselves and others free from harm at work.
Entry Requirements
This course is suitable for anyone entering the workplace for the first time – either as part of a work experience programme or at the start of employment – and those who are starting a new job (as part of an induction programme) in food premises
Course Content
- Appreciate the importance of health and safety in food premises
- Identify the range of hazards associated with food premises and understand how to spot them
- Understand the role of reporting procedures
- Understand the importance of risk control measures in place and identify ways to reduce risks or eliminate hazards
Teaching Methods
Students will experience a range of teaching methods including explanation/information from the tutor, group discussions, question and answer sessions, individual work and working with a partner or small group.
Assessment
Multiple choice examination set by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)
